Karatina University proudly participated in the inaugural KUCCPS National Career Conference and Exhibition, held from 26th to 29th January 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi, under the theme “Informed Career Choices: A Skilled and Competitive Workforce.” The conference brought together universities, colleges, industry players, and education stakeholders to guide learners on future-focused career pathways.
The University’s participation was led by the Registrar, Academic Affairs, and included the Assistant Registrar (Academics), the Admissions and Programmes team, lecturers, student innovators, the Tea Institute team, and the Corporate Communications Office. The team engaged prospective students, parents, and other stakeholders, providing guidance on academic programmes, admissions processes, career pathways, and student support services.

The conference was officially opened by Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, Principal Secretary, State Department for Higher Education and Research, who highlighted the critical role of career guidance in building a skilled and competitive workforce.
During the exhibition, Prof. Franklin Wabwoba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research and Student Affairs), on behalf of Karatina University, welcomed the Principal Secretary to the University’s booth. The University’s student innovators, led by Victor Githae, showcased their projects, including an app designed to provide mental support to peers. The Principal Secretary commended the innovative student-led initiatives and products developed by the Tea Institute.

The Karatina University booth also received a visit from Dr. Agnes Wahome, Chief Executive Officer of KUCCPS, alongside other CEOs, Vice-Chancellors, and senior officials from the higher education sector. The booth attracted Karatina University alumni, who engaged with prospective students, shared their career journeys, expressed appreciation for the University, and offered mentorship to both current and prospective students.

On the final day of the conference, the Director of the Tea Institute and the Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biotechnology (SAB) addressed participants, offering insights on career choices and emerging opportunities within agriculture, agribusiness, and applied sciences.
