Today, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Linus Muthuri Gitonga, was presented with trophies that Karatina University won during the KUSA Central Staff Games that were held last weekend at the University of Embu. The Assistant Games Tutor, Mr. Michubu Johah Karwamba, together with the Captains of the Men and Women staff teams, presented the Volleyball (Women) and Netball (Women) trophies.
The Ag. VC lauded the staff members for their commitment and the effort they put towards the games. He expressed the need to have an Annual Sports Day that would bring together various stakeholders and put the University in the limelight. He urged the Assistant Games Tutor to develop a concept paper that would inform the University Management on the establishment of such a Day.
Additionally, the Ag. VC proposed to start an annual Karatina (University) Marathon and further develop a major sports facility encompassing all sports including high altitude sports. The establishment of all these will enhance the visibility of KarU.
