Prof. Joe’s profile
Prof. Joe Regenstein is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Food Science at Cornell and heads the Cornell Kosher and Halal Food Initiative. He teaches Kosher and Halal Food Regulations at Cornell and Kansas State (by distance learning). He is a Distinguished Foreign Expert at Jiangnan University (China); an Adjunct Professor at Chiang Mai University (Thailand) and a Guest Faculty at Southwest University (China). Dr. Regenstein was IFT’s first Congressional Science Fellow. With his wife Carrie, he wrote Food Protein Chemistry, An Introduction for Food Scientists and An Introduction to Fish Technology. His third book was Genetic Modification and Food Quality with Dr. Robert Blair. Dr. Regenstein has received IFT’s Bor Luh International, the Elizabeth Stier Humanitarian and Carl Feller’s career awards and is the 2020 recipient of IUFoST’s Life-Time Achievement Award. He is on the advisory board of the Food Diversity Innovation Program at Texas A&M, and the Global Harmonization Initiative. Dr. Regenstein is the co-founding-editor-in-chief of Food Bioscience.
