KARATINA UNIVERSITY HOSTS VICE CHANCELLOR’S CUP FINALS

Karatina University hosted the grand finale of the Vice Chancellor’s (VC) Tournament at the University’s sport field, where Hunters FC emerged victorious against Dripstar FC in a thrilling contest that showcased talent, discipline, and teamwork.

The event was graced and launched by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Linus M. Gitonga, alongside the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research and Student Affairs), Prof. Franklin Wabwoba, and the Dean of Students, who praised both teams and underscored the University’s commitment to nurturing excellence in sports and holistic student development.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Franklin Wabwoba, presided over the award ceremony, presenting the championship trophy to Hunters FC and recognizing the captains of both teams with cash tokens for their exemplary leadership. Hunters FC received a cash prize of KSh 100,000 as champions, while Dripstar FC were awarded the runners-up trophy and commended for their competitive spirit throughout the match.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Linus Gitonga, reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing student talent, emphasizing plans to expand sporting facilities and enhance opportunities for student-athletes. In addition, Prof. Wabwoba announced that the University will engage a professional coach to further develop the student football clubs and elevate the standard of competitive sports at Karatina University.
