KARATINA UNIVERSITY STAFF UNDERGO BUSINESS PROCESS RE-ENGINEERING (BPR) TRAINING

On 17TH November, Karatina University academic and administrative members of staff from various departments underwent training on the Business Process Re-engineering. The training was held at the University’s Senior Common Room. In attendance were the Acting DVC PFA, Prof. Richard Kiai, acting DVC ARSA Prof. Hellen W. Kamiri and twenty-nine members of staff. Prof Richard Kiai opened the training on behalf of the Vice Chancellor. He urged members of staff to be keen to learn what they would be trained on. He noted that the aim of the training was to help the staff and the University at large to re-examine themselves, identify the areas of weakness and chart the way forward.  The aim of the training was to discuss and share experiences on BPR. The Guest Speaker Dr. Daniel Otuoma, from the State Department of Public Service, took the staff through Public Sector Reforms and Results Based Management to ensure that the University delivers services efficiently to its clients. He observed that for a university to excel in the Business Process Re-engineering it must have a strategic plan in place. The University’s strategic plan should go hand in hand with its Service Delivery Charter. He added that the University’s Performance Contract should be a commitment of achieving the University’s annual deliverable plans.

Dr. Otuoma further explained that for Karatina University to excel in the evaluation of the BPR, it should ensure that it meets the needs of its customers. He encouraged the University to ensure that its ISO standards conform to BPR. The University was also encouraged to stick to what is achievable and to digitalize all its services.
