On behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Research and Students’ Affairs, Prof. Hellen Kamiri held a meeting with the academic technicians from various departments of the University at the Senate Chambers. The aim of the meeting was to listen to the staff members’ concerns, encourage dialogue and team work as well as structure a way forward.
Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Kamiri appreciated the members of staff for their valuable contribution to the University. She encouraged them to form teams that would propel them to work together, build good relations and move forward in order to achieve their core mandate. She further emphasized the need for the staff to observe work ethics and play their respective roles responsibly.

Prof. Kamiri further encouraged the members of staff to value and respect their colleagues. She observed that they should recognize and appreciate the value of each other and their contribution to the University. “You should also strive to grow yourselves with a view to advancing in your careers because the University provides a very conducive environment and there are so many opportunities for those willing to grow.” She advised.
On their part, the members of staff raised a number of issues that they requested the Ag. DVC, ARSA to share with the University management on their behalf to help improve working conditions. They however appreciated the opportunity accorded them to discuss issues regarding their work and called for more such engagements in future.
