Below is the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mucai Muchiri’s speech during the Cohesion and Integration Peace Walk, 2022 held on Friday, 22nd July 2022 at Karatina University Town campus
“Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
We welcome you to the Karatina University Cohesion and Integration Peace Walk, 2022.
Thank you very much for joining us during this important event as we preach the message of peaceful coexistence before, during and after the August 2022 general elections.
The University has been at the forefront in promoting national cohesion and integration through various activities since 2017.
We have established the annual National Cohesion and Integration Week and International Conference whose goal is to promote cultural diversity as a unifying factor.
We do this by providing a forum for displaying the diverse cultures in Kenya and to discuss and conceptualize multiculturalism.
Indeed, we are a people of diverse identities politically and ideologically. Our rallying call, however, is that we can derive strength from these diversities.
Let us remember that we are one people under one nation. We need to learn lessons from our past even as we go into general elections on Tuesday, 9th August 2022. Amani ni jukumu letu.
We urge you to commit to a peaceful election to ensure that the fabric of the country is maintained even after the elections because elections come and go.
At the end of the day, Kenya will still remain more important than any individual.
I appeal to Kenyans of all walks to embrace peace during these forthcoming elections.
God bless you.
God bless Karatina University.
God bless Kenya.
Amani Kenya: Nguvu Yetu, Utajiri Wetu
Thank you. “
