In a gesture of academic support and collaboration, Karatina University recently donated books to Murang’a Technical Training Institute (MTTI), Kabete National Polytechnic, and Tetu Technical & Vocational College on 1st August 2023. The team, led by Ms. Sally Chepchirchir on behalf of the University Librarian, included members from the Library, Procurement, and Corporate Communications Office. This donation came in response to requests from these institutions, aiming to enrich their libraries and enhance the educational resources available to their students.

The donation process began with a visit to Murang’a Technical Training Institute (MTTI), where the Principal, Mr. Robin Wachira, warmly received the Karatina University team. MTTI received a total of 133 books, covering a wide range of subjects. The principal expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the institute, highlighting the significant impact these resources will have on their academic programs.

Following the visit to Murang’a Technical Training Institute, the team proceeded to Kabete National Polytechnic. They were welcomed by both the Principal, Mr. Patrick Muchemi, and the Deputy Principal Administration. At Kabete, a total of 280 books were donated. The principal expressed profound gratitude to Karatina University for honoring their request and emphasized the importance of such partnerships in advancing educational opportunities.

In a subsequent visit to Tetu Technical and Vocational College, the university’s delegation was warmly welcomed by the Principal, Ms. Gikonyo, along with enthusiastic students and teachers. The university donated an additional 161 books, further supporting the institution’s academic endeavors. The principal expressed gratitude on behalf of the college and encouraged students to consider furthering their studies at Karatina University.
During the handover, Ms. Sally Chepchirchir, speaking on behalf of Karatina University, emphasized the transformative power of education and the university’s commitment to extending support beyond its own campus. She highlighted the significance of such collaborations in nurturing academic excellence and urged the students to fully utilize the resources provided. “Books are more than just pages bound together; they are vessels of knowledge, gateways to new worlds, and bridges that connect us to diverse cultures, ideas, and histories,” Ms. Chepchirchir remarked. “By donating these books, we are not only providing resources but also empowering students to dream bigger, think critically, and pursue their passions with vigor.”
She further encouraged students to explore new ideas and perspectives through these resources, noting that “each book holds the potential to change your life in profound ways.” Ms. Chepchirchir also reiterated Karatina University’s dedication to fostering academic excellence across the region and expressed hope for continued partnerships in the future.
