Karatina University Shines at the Women’s National Championships

Karatina University delivered an impressive performance at the Women’s National Championships held at Taita Taveta University, where student-athletes showcased outstanding talent, resilience, and sportsmanship across various disciplines.

The university recorded notable achievements during the competition, with the Karate and Darts teams emerging as champions in their respective categories. The Volleyball team also put up a strong performance, finishing fourth overall.

In the final standings, Karatina University secured sixth position nationally, reflecting the dedication, teamwork, and hard work of both the athletes and their coaches.

The championships, which brought together competitors from 24 universities across the country, featured 16 sports disciplines including basketball, soccer, volleyball, athletics, netball, and indoor mind sports such as chess, scrabble, and table tennis. In total, 1,203 participants took part in the competition, highlighting the growing strength and participation of women in university sports in Kenya.

The event also coincided with the celebration of International Women’s Day under the theme “Sport as a Bridge for Inclusion and Unity,” emphasizing the role of sport in empowering women and fostering unity among institutions.
