Karatina University shone in the regional music festivals held on Saturday, 18th and Sunday, 19th February 2023 at the institution. The University Choir presented twelve (12) items, the Poetry team nine (9) items while the Dance team presented two (2) items. The Choir won in eleven (11) out of the twelve (12) categories while the Poetry team won in six (6) categories. The Dance team won all their items. KarU also won the DJ category while Murang’a University won in the rap music genre.
Karatina University will be taking a total of twenty three (23) items to the nationals to be held at Maasai Mara University from the 12th to 19th March 2023. Karatina University was crowned the overall winner in the event that was attended by six (6) universities namely; Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Kenya Methodist University, Tharaka University, Murang’a University of Technology, Gretsa University and Karatina University.
The Dean of Students, Mr. Peter Ngugi, who officially opened the Festivals on behalf of the University Management noted the unique musical talents among the students. He also challenged them to use the talents to sustainably develop themselves in readiness for the job market.
