KARATINA UNIVERSITY DEMONSTRATES COMPASSION THROUGH SUPPORT TO NYERI WOMEN PRISON

Karatina University, through its Directorate of Community Outreach, on 12th May 2026 visited Nyeri Women Prison to donate boxes of petroleum jelly to women inmates and their babies.

The donation, made possible through the support of Madam Mary Ngechu, Managing Director of Line Plast Group of Industries, was presented by the Director of Community Outreach, Prof. Margaret Mwenje, alongside Prof. Kenneth Wanjau. The initiative served as a belated commemoration of International Women’s Day and a special gesture to mark Mother’s Day.

Speaking during the visit, the team noted that the initiative was aimed at encouraging, supporting and appreciating the women inmates and their children while promoting dignity and care for vulnerable members of society.
