At Karatina University, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Prof. Franklin Wabwoba as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, and Student Affairs), effective 1st January 2025. Prof. Wabwoba is a distinguished Professor of Information Technology, holding a PhD in Information Technology from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
Before joining Karatina University, Prof. Wabwoba served as the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs) at Kibabii University for one year. He also held key leadership roles, including:
(i) Director of Technical and Vocational Education and Training,
(ii) Dean of the School of Computing and Informatics, where he contributed immensely to the department’s growth and development, and
(iii)Chairman of the Department of Computer Science.
Prof. Wabwoba is an accomplished researcher, having published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at numerous national and international conferences. He has supervised and mentored many doctorate, masters and undergraduate students both locally and internationally.
His exceptional research and leadership capabilities are further demonstrated by his success in attracting significant research funding, including a competitive infrastructure grant worth KES 64.6 million from the National Research Fund in 2019.
