KARATINA UNIVERSITY EXTENDS FREE MEDICAL SERVICES TO MERU RESIDENTS

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, Karatina University’s Directorate of Community Outreach held a medical camp at Mikumbune Primary School in Imenti South, Meru County, in collaboration with key healthcare partners. The initiative aimed to provide free medical services to the local community, reinforcing the university’s commitment to social impact and community engagement. In attendance at the medical camp was the Chairman of council, independent council member, the Vice Chancellor Prof Linus Gitonga, the deputy Vice Chancellor ARSA Prof. Franklin Wabwoba and the members of staff. The event was officially opened by the Chairman of Council Prof. Joseph T. Mailutha.

The university partnered with several health service providers such as Marie Stopes Kenya, LifeCare Hospitals, Kanyakine Sub-County Hospital, Elephant Dental, Aga Khan University Hospital, among others. Services offered included general checkups, dental care, reproductive health consultations, and cancer screening. Over 650 people benefitted from the free medical camp
