KARATINA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS LAUNCH THE WOMEN IN TECH CLUB

Karatina University students launched the Women in Tech Club under the guidance of their patron, Dr. Nyabisi Mengo who is also the Head of Department, Tourism and Hospitality Management in the School of Business. The Club partnered with a leading tech company in Kenya, Impax Business Solutions that assisted them in the launch. The aim of the Club is to connect, share and help members who share their passion for Computer and information Technology. The students explained that they are empowered to excel in technology.

Speaking during the launch, Ms. Mary Sang, the Project Manager at Impax Business Solutions who is also an alumnus of Karatina University, School of Business, advised the members on how to effectively settle into the job market after their studies. She stated that it was an honor to mentor and encourage the young ladies to venture into technology. The members were challenged to ensure that they add value to themselves so that they could be well equipped with technology and prepared for the job market.

Ms. Sandra Omoi the Technical Specialist at Impax Business Solutions, elaborated on the emerging trends in technology and explained to the members how to take advantage of the trends to grow their brands. The members were encouraged to identify what uniquely defines them and pursue it with all the vigour.

The University Director of Career Services and University-Industry Linkages, Prof. Kenneth Wanjau was also in attendance. He appreciated the students’ initiative, efforts and dedication to launch the Club. Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, he stated that the VC supports the club and that the students should count on his support to make the Club a success.
