Human nutrition and dietetics is a multidisciplinary field of expertise.

The Bachelor of Science Human nutrition and dietetics programme of Karatina University offers an integrated approach in order to help solve problems in nutrition and health. The programme has factored chemical and biochemical characteristics, physiological and biomedical aspects, social and behavioural context of nutrition. The programme produces graduates who are hands on and competent to pursue Nutrition research at postgraduate levels or practice nutrition and dietetics after following a one year internship with Kenya Nutrition and Dietetics Institute (KNDI). 

BSc. HND is a four year programme with two sets of industrial attachment to give students wide exposure in the field of Nutrition (Hospitals or non-governmental organizations).BSc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics programme is housed in the department of Food Science and Nutrition and is taught by qualified lecturers who are registered with KNDI and or are members of the Kenya Institute of Food Science and Technology (KIFST).
