KARATINA UNIVERSITY MARKS PRE-WORLD AIDS DAY

Karatina University took part in commemorating Pre-World AIDS Day at the University’s Graduation Square on 30th November, 2023. In collaboration with National Syndemic Disease Control Council, the Pre-World Aids Day event was organized at Karatina University guided by the theme “Let Communities Lead’. The event was organized to increase engagement of adolescents and young people (AYPs) in HIV programming.

The event was organized by the University in partnership with Nyeri County Government, National Hospital Insurance Fund, Maisha Youth, City Eye, NACADA, Kenya Red Cross among others. Activities at the event included sensitization on drug and substance abuse, triple threat sensitization that is HIV and AIDs, teenage pregnancy and contraception, gender-based violence free health service delivery. Free health services were also provided to those who attended.

Karatina University students turned up in large numbers and participated in the activities of the event. In attendance was the Dean of Students Mr. Peter Ngugi who welcomed the collaborators on behalf of the Vice Chancellor. Mr. Ngugi appreciated the organizers and partners for their contribution in making the event a success. He said students benefitted a lot from the event.
